When I was elected as MSP for Glasgow Provan I made a commitment to donate half of my MSP Salary to charity. I felt this was the right thing to do as before entering politics I had a successful business career and I wanted to put something back into the communities I represent. Communities which face some of the biggest challenges in the country.
Where possible I am especially focused on helping charities who are creating enterprise opportunities, so that the money 'kick-starts' something which will continue to generate revenue for the local community in the future. Particularly investment in young people, supporting their aspirations to succeed.
I am delighted to launch the 2019/2020 Enterprising Provan Scheme and invite applications for donations from across the Glasgow Provan constituency. There is £20k available with this in mind, do you know any local organisations or groups with enterprise ideas that will add value to local communities, or are working to raise the aspirations of young people locally in a concrete way?
- Community or voluntary organisations based within Glasgow Provan
- Have a managing body, committee or similar body
- Have a bank account with at least two unrelated signatories
- Donation requests of £100 - £1000 welcome
