We where notified recently of the proposed closure of the last remaining bank on Alexandra Parade. I have written to Ross McEwan, the CEO of Royal Bank of Scotland, stating my concerns regarding the closure of the Alexandra Parade branch and urging RBS to rethink, particularly in light of the fact that a significant proportion of its customers do not access online banking. I have also moved a motion in Parliament calling for a review of the decision. The RBS branch is the last bank left on Alexandra Parade. If it closes, local people and businesses will face a much bigger journey to avail themselves of vital banking services. I am urging RBS to protect the interests of its customers who do not, or cannot, avail themselves of online services by rethinking these plans and reversing this decision to close the branch.
Local people deserve better than this. Please add your voice to our petition.
